Lancia Stratos 1976 Gp.4
Full Group 4 restoration of period competition Lancia Stratos completed including race preparation to modern FIA legal standards. 12V Dino engine producing 243 BHP @ 7,500rpm.

Build Stage 2
- Original fuel tanks 3D scanned to create CAD model, then opened up to install bespoke manufactured FIA kevlar safety cells inside. This ensures compliance with modern competition regulations whilst retaining original appearance.
- New high performance lightweight aluminium radiator manufactured and fitted with modern high flow fans in the same manner to original system
- New Alfaholics sand-cast magnesium Stratos wheels painted gold and fitted with new Michelin tarmac rally tyres
- Original engine fully rebuilt and upgraded to our chosen fast road/competition specification, dyno tested with 243BHP
- Original straight cut dog-box rebuilt, cases vapour blasted, gears crack tested and super finished.
Build Stage 1
Suspension and major components all stripped down to basic parts. Wishbones, uprights and fabricated parts all bead blasted and high quality powder coated. Machined components acid dipped and zinc plated. Rose joints and ball joints matched and replaced with new high quality items before being built up for installation.
Body Restoration
Bodyshell carefully blasted bare and etch primed to assess general condition and corrosion. Clearance to the roof is extremely limited with a modern race seat fitted, so the floors have been dropped to give essential extra clearance for driving with helmets fitted. Integrated seat mounts have also been built into the shell to aid head clearance. We have cut the old rollcage out as it would not comply with current historic regulations; we are currently designing a new cage to submit to the MSA for approval and simulated crash testing prior to manufacture.
Restoration Brief
Our customer, a keen Alfaholic, with several Alfaholics prepared 105 series cars expressed his interest to buy a competition Stratos. After some time searching, this car became available and was bought and delivered to Alfaholics. The car was in overall good condition, a bit scruffy round the edges but not in the ‘perfect ready to race’ condition the owner wanted. Our restoration brief was to strip the car to a bare shell, restore the body to show quality condition, then reassemble the car, restoring all the components in the process, resulting in a perfect race/rally ready gp.4 Stratos.
History
Although not originally built to group 4 specification, the car was used from its first year onwards as a competition car, at first as a narrow body Stratos and over the years being converted to full group 4 wide body specification. During the first stage of its life it competed in the Italian and European Hillclimb Championships, as well as various rally events. We have some great period photos which came with the car, along with entry and results sheets from all these events. Later in its life it came to England to race in the Italian Intermarque circuit racing series.
